I hear it can lighten or fade hair that has been dyed.
Is this true? What effect does sunlight have on hair colour?
Prolonged sunlight exposure lightens any hair colour, natural or not.
That is however, a bit extreme. I mean if it's summer and you're say at the beach every day you might notice by the end of summer your hair's a got a little blonde/reddish tinge to it and seems lighter.
However during the cold months, your hair grows much faster normally and it'll be back it to it's old colour.
It only becomes really noticeable when you get much older and you're hair doesn't regrow as fast. What effect does sunlight have on hair colour?
yes, it definitely can.
but, then again, hair color fades after a few weeks anyway.
sunlight can lighten or fade hair that's not even dyed.
either way, colored or natural, the sun will lighten your hair slightly.
if you use color holding shampoos and conditioners or products, it will help keep the color as bold as when it was first dyed.
try redkin's shampoo for dyed hair.:]
It lightens your hair color.
for my hair it lightens in the summer and in the winter it darkens
