What's the difference between semi-permanent, temporary and non-permanent hair colour/dye?

I really want to dye my hair a nice shade of brown, but my hair is (dyed) blonde right now and if it doesn't suit, i want it to be able to wash out in a couple of weeks. Please tell me the difference between the them and also if anyone knows some or all of the different shades of brown it would help me so much if you could tell me them. What's the difference between semi-permanent, temporary and non-permanent hair colour/dye?
There are three types of non permanent hair dye: demi permanent, semi permanent, and temporary.

Temporary washes out in one or two shampoos.

Semi permanent lasts about a month.

Demi permanent will last 6-8 weeks, depending on how much you shampoo your hair.

It sounds like you want semi permanent, but read this article to be sure. It will also talk the different chemicals used in each type of dye. What's the difference between semi-permanent, temporary and non-permanent hair colour/dye?
Semi permanent lasts the longest - about twenty washes, if you look at the packet, and applying heat to it when you put it on can make it behave like a permanent colour.

I think temporary is the one that comes out easiest - just read the packets they should say how many washes it will normally take.

I really dont recommend doing this yourself without a hairdresser because:

1. Dry, over processed hair takes on more colour so you could end up with nice brown roots but really dark ends (the classic 'bottle job' look) - that wont wash out.

2. Some browns over some blonde colours just go green. Depending on the colour you are using now, you might have to go for a red-brown to get something that looks like ordinary brown.

You need a hairdresser that will do consultations and can tell you exactly what colour your hair will end up, before you go ahead.

Why not chicken out and get a few warm brown lowlights done? Then you can choose whether to keep adding to them and go darker, or let them grow out, without ever doing the big sudden change or the whole zebra crossing look.
go to a hairdresser and have a consultation , look at the different shades of brown , it might not be what you think , you might actually want a dark blonde , colour reflects are not what they seem on a box , you take a risk playing with it,go to a salon speak with a colourist and maybe try a couple of foils around your face . you need to fill the hair with warm color 1st DON';T put a brown over a blonde , only if you want green hair.
what's the original color, your natural color? just let it grow out and keep it your natural color and quit switching around
Semi-Permanent color does not change the color structure in your DNA like Permanent color does. Semi-Permanent only ';coats'; your hair, which means it only deposits color and does not lighten. It lasts a little longer than temporary color. Temporary color is more for the use of coloring your hair for Halloween or something of that sort. You most likely will want to look for semi-permanent color.
First of all there is no color that completely washes out of your hair. So I don't recommend that route. YOu could try on a wig but your best bet is to ask your stylist what color suits you best. they ARE THE PROFESSIONALS
