How do i achieve a natural hair colour?

I have naturally dark blond hair, how do i explain to a hair dresses that i want (natural looking) blond highlights through my hair without actually dying my whole hair blond but instead just getting some foils to blend into my natural hair colour... I don't want to get it wrong. Thanks. How do i achieve a natural hair colour?
I know what you mean that is what I have... I'm guessing when it starts to grow out you don't want it to look like you have roots coming thru, I would say to have lots of fine highlights thru your whole head. But if you explain to the hairdresser what you want I'm sure they will get what you mean!! If its the first time you are getting them make sure you go to a good one!!
