How can an asian change their hair colour?

I don't want to go to a hairdresser.

Is there anything I can get at a chemist that can change my hair colour to dark brown, and then streak it gold?

I've never dyed my hair / bleached.

I have short-med jet black hair (asian).

I want to get a dark brown greek colored hair. How can an asian change their hair colour?
As an asian who has attempted to dye her hair before, I'd say that our hair is especially resilient.

I have not had any luck with any over-the-counter hair dyes, unless I bleached it. I'd recommend that if you don't want to go to a salon, find a bleaching kit (It should be near the hair dyes) and bleach your hair first. Once it's bleached, any dye will do.How can an asian change their hair colour?
Jet black hair will almost certainly require it to be lightened first before the colour is applied.

You can expect roots to start to show with 2 weeks.

Check with a salon and ask how they do this colour job anyways.........you may want to change your mind and invest in a professional colour - at least for the initial time.

Ballet Dancer is right - there are now streaking kits available and there may be something that will lift enough colour for you to get the desired effect - what the product does is, in fact, lift colour - but only where you apply it.
Go to a pharmacist and get the brown colour you want. If your hair is jet black get it one shade lighter.

- There are certain dyes that put there own highlights. My sister use to do it and everyone asked her what salon she went to because they looked like it was salon quality. Her hair was brown with light brown Highlights.

(: Ask in the pharmacist or a local drug store

Just get a temporary dye from a supermarket/chemist. But you might have to go to a hairdresser's for the streaks.

Simples.
first bleach the hair, and than color it the way u want it.
